500 MW Zarafshan Wind Power Project – Grid Studies & Geotechnical Investigations

In July 2019, Masdar has signed a PPA with National Grid (NES) to design, finance, build and operate a 500 MW wind farm project, which will be located in the Zarafshon district of the Navoi Region. Commercial operation is expected to be achieved in 2024. As part of the project development activities, Masdar contracted Juru through intec to manage and assure quality of a number of project development stage studies for the ensuing wind park:

  • Grid capacity & interconnection assessment;
  • Geotechnical and hydrology investigations.

Services provided:

  • Grid capacity & interconnection assessment
    • Preparation of TOR for the system studies and its approval with the off-taker (NEGU)
    • Defining criteria and methodology along with the Client and national authorities for grid capacity analyses
    • Assess and help shortlist interconnection options
    • Supervise the local contractor to ensure quality and conformance of the studies to the ToR
    • Validation of study results and their interpretation
    • Support of the Client in technical discussions with the off-taker
  • Geotechnical and hydrology investigations (200 MW)
    • Review the TOR for the geotechnical and hydrological study
    • Sub-contract the work to a specialist local firm
    • Supervise the local contractor to ensure quality and conformance of the study to Client requirements
