Juru-RTE-EDF CIST consortium to update the Regional Power Sector Master Plan for the Central Asian Power System (CAPS)

Juru Energy, together with RTE International and EDF CIST, is thrilled to have been trusted by ADB to update/prepare a Regional Power Sector Masterplan covering Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The contract has been signed back in September 2019.

Within the framework of the study we are updating the Regional Power Sector Master Plan for the Central Asian Power System (CAPS), initially prepared in 2013. The new study will propose solutions to increase trade within the CAPS, improving regional energy security and stability of electricity supply.

It is a fascinating study covering existing CAPS member states, which have interconnected networks and a long history of regional cooperation. All are rich in natural resources but uneven distribution of these resources—compounded by inadequate infrastructure and inefficient energy utilities—means some countries continue to face power shortages. By working together, Central Asian countries will be able to increase the level of integration in creating larger and modern energy market with the ability to cover seasonal variability and uneven distribution of energy across the region.
